If someone wanted to take the time to do the work, they could probably simulate the splitting up of LGND into several different companies, with four different stock prices and number of shares. Company 1. Oncology and Dermatology - 14 products in the pipeline, 11 of which are in Clinical trials. Company 2. Osteoporosis and HRT - 8 products, 3 in clinical trials. Company 3. Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases and Cardiovascular Disease. - 9 products, 1 in clinical trial. Company 4. Inflammatory Disease and STATs. - 8 products, none in clinical trials. I would be willing to bet, that, as separate companies, the total capitalization would be twice what it is now. The bottom line: Either Wall Street doesn't fully understand LGND, LGND stockholders don't really fully understand LGND, or Both! By the way.
