Techie, can you even comprehend the advantage that the direct model poses for DELL? Gateway is the competition, and DELL is worried <ggg>! All of the rest cannot possibly even come close to trumping DELL in the market place- not now, and not for a while. (Why else is everyone else trying to become more like DELL?) The truth of the matter is that either you are a direct marketer, or you are not. I don't believe a successful hybrid is possible. The longer it takes CPQ, et al, to figure this out, the more market DELL will gobble up. CPQ is in serious trouble, and I think that is reflected in the stock price and its performance as of late. LoD
