Go ahead and short. Nothing like a short squeeze to drive the price
through the roof.

Advertising and commerce deals.

I wouldn't short anything until the market gets over-bought again. Right now it's as over-sold as it was in April, 1997. I think we're at or near an important low.

If the market does continue lower from here then I think we're in a cyclical bear market. I think US companies with strong Far-Eastern competition with competitive profiles like Xerox, 3M or Kodak might be good candidates.

Defensive stocks (like KO and PG) would probably be bad choices, because they are not economically sensitive and they respond well to declining interest rates.

I personally think we're close enough to the end of this correction that shorting anything is a really bad idea. The big-cap tech stocks (MSFT, CSCO, LU, IBM, etc) acted well today. The Internet stocks were stand-outs.

I think we should assess the strength (particularly the breadth) of the market during the next rally to see whether an intermediate (serious) top is in the making.

<< Do you have a suggestion for good short to replace YAHOO? >>

Sure. Of course there are three listed at the bottom of my profile. FIBR isn't currently shortable because it is below 5. It's almost impossible to get shares of KTEL. ZITL is still a good short because it's eventually going to zero, but you have to be prepared to ride out some short covering rallies because about 40% of the float is short.

There are tons in the internet arena. "Faux internet" as Cramer likes to call them. CFON is currently above 5, MARG is above 7, GMGC is one I am looking into and it's above 11. THNK is a hotly debated "internet" stock. USWB is another in the same sort of field. CYSP had a big runup and is still above 5. NTKI and CDNW are two mini Amazons. REDB, TSCN, PPOD, ODSI, DBCC, DBT, SHRP are all above 5 and ran-up on internet hype.

Some hotly debated shorts are ZONA, WDRY, AVNT, CCSI, VVUS, ATHM, BFT, BAANF, ENMD, ERTH. There are many more, but these are some off the top of my head.
