An apology w/an "if", is no apology at all, Rabbi2B. I read Ur profile 2C if there might be some clue as to where U be coming from in such a legalistic fashion. Found it in your self description. Rabbinical students are groomed for life viae endless verbal jousting on major and minor points of law, and it extends into their lives as I have observed them up close and personal. However, as author, Eric Berne, writes in "Games"... the object is not to fell your "conversant/adversary" with one blow... but to continue the encounter. Your "trained approach" did not serve you nor this LU thread well. For starters, you have cut your chances considerably to ever learn anything from another valuable human, who just happened to pick one of his favorite stocks' threads to ask a friendly question on. Decided I'd use the "mule trainer" approach to get your attention. You may not be a student of the New Covenant, but there is a passage in Timothy that would apply to your situation: Paul was advising the young ministerial student named Timothy to "be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks of the hope within you with meekness and with respect" As a potential congregant leader, you are going to be asked many times to share the hope/faith/belief system that sustains you when others around you are in chaos and need your leadership. Are you going to squelch their seekings with an abrupt, legalistic, hair-splitting put'em in their place response, or are you going to take a page from Eric Berne or the New Covenant Jew, Paul?
