Patroller, are you sure that your last statement that pricing is structured to provide unit-based profits (gross margins) is correct?
That would suggest that they charge a price equivalent to the cost of materials plus a price per unit produced sufficient to produce the target gross margin $ - with the total price dropping as material costs decline, but not the gross margin piece.
