Mike, see my earlier post. Under the rules of purchase accounting, DEC's earnings appear in consolidated income only from the time of the merger. That's just two weeks of the current quarter.

One of those gray areas of mergers. I dont know if the 0.01 was meant for the combined companies. I think many were expecting that Compaq was going to use this opportunity for writing off some of the clog in the pipeline. They do have to be careful how much Drano they use.

Well think, it is an excellent time to buy, it can't go any lower. It's a solid company.

On a side note, that publishing company is the most greedy money sucker I ever see. They actually "created" this episode of copyright
on a stupid book. You believe this? Compaq has a pile of technical
writer, and that Safety and Comfort Guide is just 10-15 pages thick. Who's going to copy from them? Get real. And they actually have the
nerve to ask for $10 billion. Why don't they ask for a $100 billion?
That way, the judge can deem them psychologically insane and dismiss the law suit completely.
