HAL, SLB (are up today actually) were my first oil interests in late 1996. When I discovered CDG,SCSWF,BWG,FGII,EVI,RON, I just left HAL and SLB.. I haven't really watched them as more than indicators for the oil service sector. When it trends up I usually switch to the other 6.

As for playing stock splits, I think they are fine but as everyone knows the 'secret' of playing splits and all those split pagers are all over the place I think it's not as profitable as it used to be. I still like stocks moving over to big board or changing boards more.
