The Battleground or Standard : Gray design on gray background The short respite was replaced by a new wave of attackers, driving defenders back and down, it was a dire situation. The battlefield, already indistinct through a haze of smoke, was clearly owned by the enemy. The standards visible were all dark or gray. Small knots of resistance were swamped under the sheer volume of attackers, for those already dead it was a mercy. The fighting raged steadily, the defenders rallied round a small loon shaped rise and the sound of steady swordwork rang out. Attacking commanders seemed aimless, so overwhelming was the victory that things lost focus. This day belonged to the ravens and the Hippocrates.
