Jaymin, I think that the S&P 500 bit has made the stock very overpriced, so overpriced that even Jim Cramer now likes it. (He hated it at $23, because it was cheap) <G> Most of the brain dead indexers are already in, as they have to be, so I don't think we will see much of a forced inflow in the future.

I do think Ascend can survive on its own, but I suspect that somewhere down the line, they will either be taken over or merge into another firm. However, I don't think it will be Telco, as you would then be trying to sell equipment to your competitors. Somebody along the line of Lucent, Tellabs, General Instruments, Scientific Atlanta, or DSC seems a better marriage candidate, IMHO.
