Pat Could you or anyone explain what the difference in strategy is between the newly announced IBM entry into DSPs and the TI position in this market. On reading the IBM announcement a couple days ago it seemed there's is a different approach but I am a non tech neophyte and need to understand the potential threat to TI's market share. Thanks for any help you can give.

I increased my position by 50% yesterday b/c I think the worst will be over soon. Once June and preannouncements are over, I think the semi industry and TXN will firm.

I've nearly doubled my position between yesterday and today.

I spoke with TI's IR department today and was told that while they were concerned with the IBM announcement that it was cloning the C5000 core chip, they said it was not pin-compatible, and they had no software or support, so I don't see anyone dropping TI for IBM. TI's other competitors, like LU, might be more at risk.

At any rate, I'm hoping today's drop was the bottom, though there's no way to be sure.

Later --
