My point is, CPQ is dead money for now. If you want to hold it for 12-18 months while it spikes back up, that is your trading style. Fundamentally, CPQ may very well be a great long term play but it's dead money for the next quarter. Why not put money into a 4% savings account and at least earn something.

Don't generalize. I am for the most part, a trader. If shorting is the right way to go, then I will short it for a few points and exit when prospects look brighter and go long. The last time I looked, there was nothing wrong with making money in the market. Beats losing.

Why indeed? You don't know the agenda that analysts may have. Do they have large long positions that they want to liquidate so that they sit on the sidelines until the market becalms itself? It's called capital protection, no sense in going down with the market when you can prop something up for a day and move out.
