BigKNY3 _________________________________________________________ Big Pharma Report- 6/13/98 Analyst News Ralph Acampora- Prudential Securities (6/11/98)- PFE:107 PFE appears to be terminating its two-month corrective phase suggesting a challenge of its mid-April peak near $121. Near-term support is anticipated initially from $107, while the major trend exhibits support at the $100 level. Christina Heuer- Salomen Smith Barney (6/10/98)- PFE:109 Mechanism of Action- Because Viagra works only in the presence of sexual stimulation, it provides a more natural response than MUSE or Caverject Efficacy- Our survey at the AUA showed that urologists had a 60-70% success rate in their patients. This is a good sign since urologists see the difficult to treat patients. Safety- Safety concerns were exacerbated by a reporting of a handful of deaths. The FDA has now exonerated Viagra from any casual role in these deaths. Those on nitrates cannot take any Viagra which count knock out 5-10% of the potential patient population. Thus, the potential ED patients "lost" to nitrate use is not that significant. Wole Fayemi- Cruttenden Roth-(6/10/98)-PFE :109, VVUS: 6 15/16 We believe there is increasing support for our thesis that safety and efficacy issues should limit the market for Viagra creating an opportunity for Vivus. As more and more patients understand the risks associated with Viagra and the patients where Viagra doesn't work seek alternatives, we believe VVUS should capture a % of this large amount of patients. ___________________________________ Viagra Specification Source: Internet Posts- Data not confirmed -1.75 million Viagra Rxs written in first 9 weeks...the highest level ever for a new pharmaceutical product. -The ED market has expanded by 16 times its size prior to the Viagra approval -Viagra has an estimated 98% market share -Holiday shortened week resulted in a 32% Viagra NewRx decline over prior week -Despite holiday, refill ratio jumped to 31% with an 8% gain -As a result of Viagra, MUSE Rxs recorded the lowest weekly RX level in its history (2,097) representing an 82% decline over Memorial Day week, 1997 (11,530). ...........................% Change.......% Change Week...Viagra.......Viagra.............Viagra.......New Rxs....
