AERT Announces Issuance of 14th United States Patent Entitled Extruded Composite Profile
.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. June 26, 1998 Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:AERTA) announced today that the company has recently received issuance of its 14th United States Patent, entitled Extruded Composite Profile.
.
The patent was recently issued as U.S. Patent No. 5759680 and is a continuation in part of Service No. 491,061 which was filed March 14, 1990. The patent covers ''an extruded composite material comprising a discontinuous phase of cellulosic fiber encapsulated in and bonded to a continuous phase of a polymeric component preferably comprising a major portion of recycled polyethylene.''
.
The patent consists of 43 claims and covers AERT's composite products as well as product-by-process claims covering how the product is made.
.
"This recent patent is a sister application to the four patents which were challenged in suit in Delaware," states AERT President Joe G. Brooks. "We are pleased that after eight years, extensive and expensive intellectual property litigation, and extensive scrutiny and review of all of the prior art by senior patent examiners, that the Patent office has ruled in our favor."
.
The patent will run for 17 years or through the year 2015.
