Good afternoon Wahoograd,

Thanks for the updates! Here is a portion of an article that appeared yesterday: ITG: Interim results for the six months ended 30 April 1998:

"We have, once more, been the net beneficiaries of a further six months substantial growth in our core ISP business. That growth apart, our GlobalWave joint venture is now well positioned to begin to benefit from the adoption of the Wavemeter technology by some of the best known hardware manufacturers in the world."
"Until today, I have not enlarged on the terms of the Group's joint venture with Wave Systems Corporation (WAVX). Our shareholders have been very well protected from any risks associated with this venture in an agreement that only allowed for payment of the full licence fee on the achievement of specific milestones. One of these was the December 1997 announcement from IBM, a very important endorsement and validation of Wave's technology. Wave's recent announcement of the agreement with Standard Microsystems was not only the final milestone, but also the coming of age of the venture, facilitating as it does a low cost solution tothe wide scale deployment of WaveMeters in personal computers. Wave has already signed distribution agreements with a number of leading content providers in preparation for high volumes of Wave equipped computers being delivered into the market in 1999. I am extremely encouraged by the prospects for this new venture and the resulting benefits that should accrue to ITG."

Jan Murray, Chairman

Sincerely,

Jas

Our WaveMeter is only trying to help.

3. The Best of E3: Our editors tell all

After a week of recovery, our editors are back on the job,
answering the question everyone has: What was the best game
shown at E3? Just asking the question transported everyone back
to those three sweaty Atlanta days as we scuffled for computer
time, raced to meetings, and partied 'til dawn: "The fact is
many, if not most, of the games at the show looked rather good;
the industry has come a long way, and standards for quality are
substantially higher than ever before. Of course, while agreeing
on a winner proved futile, GameSpot's editors were able to cite
several dozen games from the show that looked especially
promising. We debated and narrowed down our list to a lean top
20."

4. Reviews: Unreal, Soldiers at War, World Cup 98

This week, we've got the game you've been waiting four years
for. From Unreal to World Cup 98, it's been a banner week.

Unreal (Action)
SpotScore: 8.4
Review Excerpt: "Unreal is not Quake. The look is different. The
feel is different. And what gives Unreal an edge is how these
differences, while not always positive, distinguish it from the
legions of other 3D shooters."
gamespot.com

Soldiers at War (Strategy)
SpotScore: 8.0
Review Excerpt: "If you're not looking for a time-intensive,
stat-heavy WWII experience, then Soldiers at War is definitely
worth a spin. It's attractive, entertaining, and challenging,
and while it may lack the depth of Jagged Alliance, it is at
least as satisfying as the tactical mode of X-COM."
gamespot.com

World Cup 98 (Sports - demo available)
SpotScore: 8.8
Review Excerpt: "If you already own FIFA 98, unless you're a
true fanatic, you may want to wait for FIFA 99. But if you're
trying to decide between the two, World Cup 98's new level of
strategic gameplay more than makes up for what it lacks in
teams."

5. E3 News: Dungeon Keeper II, Black and White, Ultima
Ascension, and more

If you haven't checked out our E3 News site, here's your chance.
We looked at hundreds of games on the show floor. Here are a few
of the most popular.

Walter Morbeck got the story on Bullfrog's upcoming sequel to
Dungeon Keeper: "The sequel to Dungeon Keeper is still very much
under construction, but a few details were released. The game
will feature 3D polygonal characters in a 3D world. The currency
system will be revamped as will the combat system. A D3D engine
will be provided which will support all accelerator cards and
there will be over 20 FMV motion-captured cutscenes."

Check out the cool art, too:
e3news.com

Trent C. Ward tracked down Peter Molyneux and found out about
his upcoming game, provisionally called Black and White: "OK, we
were the first press (of course) to be allowed to see this hot
new title coming out of the mind of game genius Peter Molyneux
and his new development house Lionhead. The game, which follows
in the tradition of the early Bullfrog titles, seems to be a
culmination of Molyneux's work over the years."
e3news.com

Don't miss this "screenshot" of the player's starting island:
e3news.com

Walter Morbeck got the story on the upcoming Ultima Ascension:
"Ultima: Ascension is the ninth installment in the Ultima
series, which EA is planning to release in fall 1998. Hoping to
evolve the Ultima franchise past the boundaries of role-playing
games, Ultima: Ascension is poised to push action-oriented
role-playing to the extreme through 3D gameplay."

6. Instant Poll: Who's excited?

When we got back from E3, we picked some of the most popular
games shown and found out which ones you are most excited about.

Of the following games shown at E3, which are you most excited
about?
Diablo II: 37%
Duke Nukem Forever: 27%
Age of Empires II: 13%
Ultima Ascension: 11%
Myth II: 7%
Daikatana: 3%
(4,644 respondents)

Of the following games shown at E3, which are you most excited
about?
C&C: Tiberian Sun: 41%
Grim Fandango: 12%
Prey: 12%
Alpha Centauri: 12%
Starcraft Expansion: 12%
Homeworld: 7%
(12,403 respondents)

Of the following games shown at E3, which are you most excited
about?
Dungeon Keeper II: 25%
Fallout 2: 19%
SimCity 3000: 17%
Dark Reign II: 15%
MechWarrior 3: 13%
Interstate '82: 9%
(13,555 respondents)

7. Hardware Question of the Week: Flying in a window

Q: Why does Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 run in a window? This
makes it incompatible with add-on 3D cards.

A: It's only incompatible if you want to use Flight Sim 98's
undocked Windows feature. We've been using 3Dfx cards with FS98
for some time now, and it works great. Some users who fly
multiplayer also need 3D in a window for the chat function. It
just goes to show that a strong 3D accelerator is useful, even
if you have a Voodoo or Voodoo2 card.

Hi Wahoograd,

I found the following excerpt from an article published in the Wall Street Journal on page B1 of the Friday June 12 edition of interest:

"Microsoft is supplying software to TCI for future digital set-top boxes. But Microsoft's WEBTV NETWORKS unit is already offering an electronic programming guide through special set-top boxes made by Sony Corp and others. THE GUIDE WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE ON PCs USING MICROSOFT'S NEW WINDOWS 9 OPERATING SYSTEM AND EQUIPPED WITH A SPECIAL TUNER CARD FOR RECEIVING TV SIGNALS."

The Wavemeter is in the process of being connected to this tuner card and the WEBTV is an established company that is either doing business now or will be very soon. Can REVENUES for WAVX be far behind?

SPARKLE.
