June 12, 1998 01:58 PM

MIRAMAR, Fla., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to a press release issued by Saf-T-Lok, Inc. LOCK , Enzone USA, Inc. clarifies its gun safety lock distribution agreement and re-affirms its role as the leader in home safety products and distributor of the Saf-T-Lok integrated gun locking system.

On June 7, 1998, Enzone entered into an agreement with United Safety Action (USA), the authorized worldwide master distributor of the Saf-T-Lok gun locking product to all retail trade. This agreement was duly executed by USA President, Aurthur Braun and Enzone President, Joseph A. McDonnell, of which a copy was provided to Saf-T-Lok. The agreement executed by Enzone and USA is authorized and sanctioned by and under the terms of the worldwide master distributor agreement executed by and between Saf-T-Lok and USA on February 11, 1998.

Enzone is primarily responsible for pioneering and sustaining the home safety test category in the retail trade. Enzone was founded in 1989 by Joseph A. McDonnell, Esq., along with two investors, while he was in law school, for the purpose of marketing a microwave oven leakage detector (for which McDonnell is the U.S. patent holder) as well as a full line of home safety testing products. Enzone has amassed distribution into an estimated 40,000 retail locations worldwide through a creative marketing strategy, including mass public relations campaigns with coverage in more than 1,000 newspapers, 100 TV news stations, and 150 radio programs which is complemented by national and regional advertising campaigns on TV and Radio. The company is an expert in safety-related products and was the first company to market carbon monoxide detectors to the retail trade and has now a full line of indoor home safety testing products, graffiti removers, and environmental cleaning products that are also sold on TV.

Gun safety is a primary national concern due to the alarming number of accidental gun-related deaths with children. "As an expert in marketing safety-related products and a gun enthusiast, I feel that the Saf-T-Lok is not only a natural and extremely innovative extension of our safety product line, but is a must for all gun owners worldwide. Thousands of lives can be saved with this new and much needed product as it can prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands, such as children and would-be burglars", says Joseph A. McDonnell, President of Enzone.

Enzone has established a customer base in nearly every major retail chain including: Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Lowes, Builder's Square, Menards, Hechinger, Sports Authority, Home Depot, Ace, TruServ, United Hardware, Meijer, Scotty's, Aco, Mills Fleet Farm and more. Enzone's telemarketing division reaches out to more than 100,000 retailers annually, and gains distribution into an additional 7,000 plus retail locations every year. Enzone will utilize not only its retail contacts to the major chains, but will also implement a major program with its telemarketing division to reach out to the more than 12,000 gun retailers nationally to expand and enhance the current distribution of the new Saf-T-Lok integrated gun locking system. Moreover, many of Enzone's current international distributors will be contacted to facilitate distribution in the following countries: Israel, Germany, Hungary, France, Ireland, UK, Canada (Home Hardware), Australia (Woolworth's) and more, as they are a natural for the new Saf-T-Lok.

Saf-T-Lok gun locks are the only gun locks on the market that can become an integral part of a firearm. It can safely lock a loaded firearm, yet can be unlocked in seconds, only by the authorized user, even in the dark. The lock utilizes a simple combination, and requires no keys, batteries, or computer chips to operate. As such, there is an obvious advantage over the less expensive key locks, and with the newly enacted legislation in such cities as New York, a suggested retail price of only $49 - $79 is considered an inexpensive price to pay to save a child.

James E. McDonnell , Exec. VP, Enzone, stated, "Within just our first week of being a distributor for USA, we have received extremely positive indications of interest from some of our major retail customers".

This press release contains forward-looking statements concerning Enzone's intentions to assist USA to facilitate the distribution of the Saf-T-Lok gun locking system through the existing customer base, telemarketing division, and rep. network to new retailer customers. Such statements are based on the company's current expectations. Actual results could differ materially based upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, competition, and consumer acceptance of the Saf-T-Lok product.
