Euro RSCG gets Dell's Asia-Pacific ad work

NEW YORK, June 12 (Reuters) - Euro RSCG Worldwide says it has won the advertising account for Dell Computer Corp. in the Asia-Pacific region.

In a statement Thursday from Paris, Pierre Lecosse, chairman and CEO Europe and chairman of the Asia-Pacific/India-Middle East Board of Euro RSCG Worldwide, said the appointment covers advertising for Dell's direct computer sales as well as relationship marketing and interactive work.

Size of the account was not announced.

The appointment covers Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and India, Lecosse said.

Dell, based in Round Rock, Texas, announced Thursday that it was launching a $70 million worldwide image advertising campaign with U.S. work from WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson advertising agency.

Euro RSCG Worldwide is a unit of Havas Advertising .

I wouldn't be the farm on a split by the annual meeting. I agree that they authorization is in contemplation of future splits, but I don't think that they have to do it to get the shareholders to approve the authorization.

I give it 50-50 odds on the split BY the annual meeting. 100% by November-December...
