Robert: Win98 contains the bug fixes of OSR2 and a few more.

Thanks. But when will the bug fixes for Win98 be available?

Guess I wonder about the wisdom of being lucky enough to get one of the first copies <vbg>.

Win98 will give you loads more disk space. It uses a different file clustering system so that you don't waste a lot of disk space with small files. Plus it puts clusters in a fast loading order on the hard drive(s)so it opens apps and files faster. Plus it opens and closes itself faster. Supports USB so you can even add a USB-facilitated scanner or printer while the computer is on (not saying you should, just that you can) and it will recognize and incorporate the proper driver.

Probably worthwhile for anyone who has not "upgraded" 95 from it's original version. Optional for almost anyone else, unless some of the benefits beep your hot button. I personally like the disk space saving feature (though I just installed CleanSweep 4.0 which is REAL GOOD).

ALL:

Did _anyone_ no here hear Compaq throw down the gauntlet re: 64bit computing. They came out all big and bold and said "we have a 2 year head start on Intel in 64bit computing and we aren't going to stop!" and also said that Alpha and Dec Unix are the way to go for 64bit computing.

I can see it now:

DEC + CPQ vs. INTC + HWP.

Given what I know about HP from personal experience with their workstation, server, service and software people I'm betting on DEC + CPQ (my bet had nothing to do with INTC).
