George:

It looked like the 2nd goal would have gone in anyway.

Certainly the 3rd goal he had a chance to flick it to his right but hey that's what happens when you're tired and it is at the end of a game where the French harassed you all day long.

Though France played well they really 'bullied' S.Africa into submission. Though unmistakably dominant they occassionally looked confused. You did not see the nice organized build ups that come with a team playing in 'concerto'. But they were very good without a doubt. I actually liked #12 - Henri (sp?) - quite a bit.

I'm still for Brazil to take it all. The other countries that have impressed so far are Morocco and Chile. Italy will come alive later.

What's on tap for tomorrow. I slept through the first game...

Shane.

As far as today's predictions, no need to worry everyone...I am still 100%.........inaccurate. But I did come very close today, I had France winning 4-1 and
Bulgaria tied 1-1.

Hey! I think they are good, to guess the exact score, is nearly impossible what counts is the result of either win, lose, or draw.

The goal difference becomes important on "wild cards" situation, which in this cup I understand there will not come into play.

as to France being in the final.... hmmm

Let me look at some more games then I will comment on that.

So far, this has been one very good beginning of a World Cup.

The best games I have seen in the World Cup have been:

Italy 4 -vs- 3 W. Germany Semifinal in Mexico 1970 ** the best ever

England 4 -vs- 2 W. Germany Final in Wembley 1966

Brazil 2 -vs- 1 England Mexico 1970

W. Germany 3 -vs- 2 England Semi-finals Mexico 1970

Brazil 3 -vs- 1 Czechoslovakia Final Chile 1962

The following games since then have been good but they have not reached the level of the above games, particular that semifinal between Germany and Italy in 1970....

I am hoping that this year we will best the above list.
