Neither press release mentions the size of Ascend's contract with LCI: ascend.com lci.com As for displacing NN, the only mention of LCI on NN's website is this press release from 1994. It's hard to imagine NN's presence was significant. The LCI business appears to have been for LAN switching geared towards corporate customers, not NN's key focus. newbridge.com I'm guessing whoever posted that Ascend was replacing an "all-Newbridge" network is guilty of exaggeration.
