Dear Servant Tom,

Fetch me a Mint Julip and make it snappy!

The return of Israel to the promised land really means nothing. Of the literally hundreds of prophecies, to have a meager handful come true is statistically reasonable. The irrationality occurs when the individual ignores all the rest because it doesn't fit into the picture that is desired. As is the case of Revelations. In fact the intellectual arm of the original christian cult -- of which all others are wannabes -- has stated categorically for some hundreds of years that Revelations is nothing more than an allegory of the fall of Rome.

As for Israel, the Israeli socialist-state is a disgrace to men and women who fight for true liberty. The inept mystical countries that surround them are just as bad. And for all -- christian, jew and muslim -- to long for a feudal kingdom overseen by an all-powerful god/lord/king, and every other being is a subservient vassal, is an idea so repugnant only primitive louts could really attest to longing for such a scenario. Unfortunately, a lot of superstitious, ignorant louts with loud voices and empty heads dwell on this planet even today.

Let's face it, heaven and hell are just the ultimate reworking of the old carrot and stick routine, and god and the devil are just a tired version of good cop/bad cop. Perhaps it was original to the grunting, unwashed masses of 6,000 years ago, but it is highly disdainful to any rational individual with a free-thinking mind who lives on the verge of the 21st Century.

And remember, the calendar we use is an artificial one. Many calendars (such as the Chinese or Hebrew) are far past 2,000 and this is no new millennium to them.

Finally, christianity is a minority cult in the world. Other cults are growing much faster. But still, I predict, within 100 to 200 years most of these cults will have burned themselves out. It should have happened already, so long after the return of the Age of Reason -- it just goes to show you how many millions would rather wish than think.

I do not put all my faith in Man, I do not put faith into anything. But I recognize the power and glory of the human mind when utilized to its full potentials.
