Just got through hooking a computer up my big screen TV with picture in picture, so I can be the ultimate couch potato.
I've seen the V330 as low as $75 in the last week at ebay, but $80 is average. I was researching one and on a CNET review and also on Tom's Hardware review, it said that the Riva based cards have a flicker tendency for TV out. Since I didn't want to chance it on my big screen, I bought the ATI Xpert@play 8meg version based on the Rage chip and after two days of use, I am totally happy. I know there probably isn't too many folks using TV/out yet, but just those two articles were enough to steer me away from the V330. I'm not a hard core gamer, so I can live without a Voodoo card at this point.
I am thinking though, about a Monster Sound card based on the A3D chip for my big screen sound. Currently I have a Turtle Beach Daytona PCI with the S3 sonic vibes chip with SRS piped directly to my bulletproof 100W Pioneer tube type amp. Since I already have most of the Turtle Beach software, I may go Diamond for the A3D chip instead. I believe both are priced about the same. Unfortunately I haven't found anywhere I can compare an Aureal A3D chip card against my Sonic Vibes with SRS side by side, so I guess I'll probably be the guinee pig in my county.
Regards
Scott
