>> and I haven't come across anybody w/ better services.<<

You kidding? AOL still freezes every time I try to go on, or it is too busy and I'm supposed to try back later. This at 2AM Pacific time! I dumped them recently, email be damned.(if they were really service oriented they would have a forwarding service for their departing customers). It made me sick to give them even $10/month. Training wheels for newbies is all they are good for. Try Earthlink as a provider. They are superb.

>>Shorts also challenge odds by limiting how
much they can make, yet potential losses are unlimited....<<

That's why puts are superior. Shorting is a mistake on a "sooner or later it will come down" stock like AMZN. Rule of thumb about waiting until a stock is down 10-15% BEFORE jumping in on the short side doesn't always work, obviously. I bought more puts in AMZN after it had come down from 50 to 40, and look what happened.

Also, on the quote I pulled out of the old K-Tel thread of Mark Fowler's:
He said it could go up 20 points the next day, I believe, not that it was going up to 100. So his point above about changing his mind the next day or whatever is no doubt probably what happened. It was unfair of me to pull such a quote out of time and context, and I apologize to him, even though it was meant to be harmless.

Mark, you should go pull my post from earlier this week when I predicted a 30% gap down on AMZN soon; of course, it proceeded to gap up 50% in the next 2 days.

It's a June weekend. This thread should be closed until Monday morning!

mike, that is a major reason why i buy puts. my loss is limited and my potential is much more than 100%. i also agree the down side will come. however, it might be a while...
