steve...Speaking of guns, here's Janet Reno's idea. Note that she declined to take questions on what her proposed "instant check" system will involve. Bet we can guess. Anyway, I, too, read that there was talk of using some sort of bio id either to activate the gun's firing mechanism or to permit its being loaded. Designed to keep kids from having access and all that. Jean

Excerpt from the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

"It is supposed to work like a credit card verification. A would-be buyer fills out a form stating that he or she is not prohibited
from buying a gun; a dealer calls an 800 number or taps the information into a computer, and within 30 seconds the sale is
authorized, or held up. If there is a question, the national center follows up the "hold" with a denial or clearance."
