<The Company has also
formed HBOC Ventures, Inc., an organization designed to provide venture capital
to small companies with promising healthcare technologies.>

The above is from HBOC's 1997 10K. I wonder if HDIE would qualify? HBOC is also very acquisition minded, and has done so to a great extent. Actually, HDIE has completed some nice acquisitions itself, as we know. If HBOC were to acquire HDIE, it would in effect be completing several acquisitions in one nicely strategic and economical movement.

This is all just my private musings of course, but if I were HDIE or HBOC, I think I just might look into this as a smart move. The only thing though is this...it is something that I would want to do far enough in advance of Y2K, for some very practical reasons...

Enough of my rainy Saturday morning ramblings....

<The Company expects the following external factors to affect the market
for integration software tools and integration services in future years: (1) the
continued consolidation of enterprises within various industries to achieve
economies of scale; (2) the growing importance of information for the survival
and prosperity of various enterprises; (3) the increasing complexity of
information technology; and (4) the year 2000 issue referred to above.>

The above is from HDIE's June 1 8-K. #1 above is really pertinent to the period between now and Y2K. We are seeing a lot of "consolidation of enterprises" and mergers that are being made while there is still time to create Y2K compliance in the new entity. Any company planning on assisting these new entities, a company such as HDIE, is going to be faced with enormous prospects and challenges in getting the job done. Companies such as HDIE may themselves have to participate in "consolidation of enterprises" in order to get the job done. For example, a company that has made acquisitions consolidates, merges, or forms some kind of alliance with one or more other companies that have also been making acquisitions. This may just be the kind of marshalling of forces and resources that is needed to meet the challenges inherent in what is referred to in #1 above.

No more ramblings this morning...

Best,
Charliss
