Steve - Re: "I'm not talking financials here, I'm talking about fact. Yes AMD and NSM are loosing money, ..."

You are neglecting a fact of life.

If a company continues to lose money, it will eventually close its doors or be bought out.

Cyrix lost money - lots of it - and NSM bought them out.

Now NSM is losing money - big time.

Don't you see the connection?

Of course, Halla was so tied up drooling over Cyrix and their MX's, MXis, MII, that he ignored one of his core businesses with LAN chips - and sent that business into the toilet - from which they will never recover.

And AMD - they just had to borrow an ADDITIONAL $517,000,000 to add to their mounting debt.

With more losses forecasted for this quarter and next, AMD will be adding to their losses trying to pay the interest on that debt.

As for Intel, they made $1,250,000,000 dollars last quarter. They will probably earn less this quarter. But a Billion Dollars+ per quarter will allow them to OUTLIVE their competition.
