Dog,

The H&Q report shows CPQ corporate channel at about 7 weeks of inventory. This is 3 to 4 weeks above their target.

Rudy, I seem to be getting mixed reports. Some indicate that Compaq's channel problems have eased. Others seem to indicate the opposite. Obviously anybody invested in the industry would prefer the former, but it is only prudent to prepare for the latter. My opinion is that the inventory glut has been reduced in some places, but nor in others.
A general word of caution: remember that there will be a distortion in the figures if CPQ writes down around $1 billion in inventory. While we will suddenly see $1 billion less in asset value the assets will still be physically there. In other words, it is just an admission that the assets are overstated in value due to price erosion.

TTFN,
CTC
