Thanks for posting the links, I am glad to finally see it in print. The following quote was a repeat from the previous press release:

"The same embedded operating system for the original director is used in ED-5000 Fibre
Channel Director. It will be the only 32-port switching system in the storage networking
industry, the company claims, with aggregate bandwidth of 3,200 Mbytes/second. "

From the MKII spec page - Ancor claims that it can switch:

"24 to 96 fabric ports with 1 or 2 hops"

According to their multistage configuration, they should be able to come up with the same type of device. Not being one of their engineers I would guess the device would be cost competitive (based on the number of 16 port chassis bodies required) with the McData device.

For those of you who haven't looked lately - take a look at McData.com - they are really pushing FC and trying to sell end - to - end solutions. Their web site is very impressive, and they also have good white papers.
