henry,
with gold prices at current lows, mine production is at historic lows.
teh 13.8 year figure is based on(I believe) last year production figures.
If demand were to increase to a greater level, production could follow,
at least to some extent.
What I was getting at was that gold production is at a recent low.
We have no idea just how much lower mining can get and still exist.
