Dog,

The news story in the Mercury News was not a typo. It could be wrong but it certainly was not a typo.

This story was apparently reported in the Houston newspaper, Bloomberg News and a number of other sources. The actual origin of the story I do not know. However, the CPQ needs to shed another 4 weeks worth of inventory before June 30 according to their stated targets.

Also, I know that MD has stated that the channel is between 80 and 100 days end to end. ( I suppose that includes the manufacturers, the VARS and the retail channels etc.) Thus in the best case it is 11 weeks deep and in the worst case 14 weeks deep. There is strong evidence to presume that CPQ channels are averaging 14 week deep. CPQ is always mentioned as the company with the most unsold inventory.
