Koreans shut off the DRAM faucet
By
June 15, 1998, TechWeb News

Seoul, Korea - Samsung Electronics Co. yesterday was set to halt all DRAM production for seven days, and officials said production cutbacks would persist until the supply glut is resolved.

Samsung also said it would curtail production of SRAMs, flash memories and non-memory ICs.

With 64-Mbit DRAMs now around $8, Samsung, Hyundai Electronics and other major DRAM producers have slashed production. Hyundai reportedly shut down major DRAM plants in Ichon, South Korea, for a week.

Separately, next week, a South Korean government commission is expected to release a "death list" of conglomerate chaebol subsidiaries that it believes should be liquidated as part of an industrywide restructuring.

mike, mu should have rationally tanked last january. it would have but ther boise bandits said the koreans may be out of inventory and the gulli-bulls believed they had clue one. NOT!

we know much more about their business than they do. they say dram demand is strong and we say look out below, we are about to crash hard. we were right. they say korea may out of inventory and we say fat chance - look forward to insolvency unless someone kicks in cash. we were right.

i called them straight manipulators and misleaders. no ambiguity. strong language unless one is right. the results CLEARLY show who is right.

that should scare the piss out of all longs. da bears from the peanut gallery know MUCH MORE about mu's business dynamics than THE OFFICERS OF THE COMPANY DO.

scary. very scary...
