I think you are wrong about the mindless 401K contributions, as they account for less than 14% of all fund purchases.

I said 401K + fixed monthly contributions to non retirements. If this accounts for only 14%, where does the other 86% come from?

What I meant by a dip was a nice 2000-4000 point hiccup in the Dow.

Hard to see this, as every time we dip 200-400, we seem to get a buying spree.

A real bear market takes the Dow to the teens,

Do you mean 1300-1900? Please..... What are you proposing? Economic collapse, a move back to the gold standard, a communist President?
