If you have a 64 bit memory bus and want to store 24 bits how do you do it???

Suppose the following...

12345678 12345678 - Bytes (Each # is a byte, 2 64 bit double words)
11122233 34445556 - How Pixels are arranged in memory in RGB24 Packed
111x222x 333x444x - How Pixels are arranged in memory in RGB32 mode. Each 24 bit is extended to 32 bits. x indicates don't care.

Each # 1,2,3 etc are the three bytes of a RGB24 Pixel.

RGB24 Packed using 33% less memory for the same resolution and color depth than RGB24. Many boards only support RGB24 (32 bit). Matrox supports both.
