Yes the Mexican, announcers are famous for their exuberance, it all started way back in the 60's and 70's with a man by the name of Angel Fern ndez.

He was truly something else, and he would go absolutely nuts, when someone scored a goal, particularly if his favorite team would do it (of course he was not supposed to have a "favorite" team but hey it is soccer, and you are allowed to go nuts).

From that point on, it became a tradition (at least in Mexican Soccer), to yell as long as your lungs allowed you, the GOL! bit.

The new guys are OK, but it will take someone special to equate Mr. Fern ndez.

I understand that the Brazilian announcers also go ballistic, and I am sure there must be others who are close behind in their exuberance.

I do not know if you noticed, but from time to time, the Mexican "Porra", (the fans, "torcida" in portuguese), during the game vs Korea, started yelling, in co-ordinated timing with the Mexican team's passes: "ole... ole... ole..."

This is what the BULLFIGHT fans yell during the climax, and or great moments of the "corrida de toros" (Bullfight).

In the Bullfight the fans yell (in unison), "OLE" as the bull passes by the matador's cape (Matador=Torero=Bullfighter).

So now, when the fans are feeling good, (and so is the team), they start yelling "OLE" every time the Mexican team passes the ball. It is actually quite fun to watch this, particularly if the team does score while doing this, then the fans go into trances of hysteria as a result, because the emotion of the yelling plus seeing the team score, really accentuates the thrill....

In a large stadium, (75,000 or more), such Ole chanting is indeed impressive, [not to mention deafening], and I assume intimidating to the opponent.

However, there are some announcers that can become a little bit of a nuisance, (more like a moron).... Then again, I guess it is part of the folklore of the World Cup.
