Powerquest products, NTFS and boot options

"Can I load NT on an NTFS formatted disc without any FAT partitions and still use the above products?"

Generally, yes.

Partition magic works great booted from a floppy on NTFS partitions. Make sure you're using the 3.05 edition (patch available on powerquest web site for all 3.0x versions), as it has an NTFS bugfix. I've had no problems (and didn't with the earlier versions either.) Since lots have used this product in such a manner, I'd say confidence in reliability is high here. Also works great booted from another FAT partition on the same or another hard drive.

Drive image seems just a bit more complicated. Everything works great, except that I can't seem to get an image restored from a NTFS partition. I bet there's a way to do this with DI, but I haven't had to try to figure it out yet. If the manual doesn't explain it, I bet the web chat site does.

As for your other post on removable frames, I couldn't get the description pulled up on the DCD site. A blinking add for a removable tray that was part of your second link let to a message saying its description wasn't on the site yet.

Generally, these should work well, though I can't speak about the reassignment of SCSI ID #s. (I like SCSI for everything _but_ hard drives, since IDE drives are so cheap by comparison. My next system will likely have SCSI CD-rom as well as scanner, etc., but I'll save IDE, perhaps with Fasttrak, for the main hard drives.)

Hope this incomplete info helps.
