This is where the "word of mouth" comes in. Actually, Andy only read 1 of the Nintendo Newsgroups it appears, Quest is getting slammed, in both groups. If a game starts getting words like "OK" "Suck" and "Blows Chunks" in any posts, that's trouble. If somebody posts a review and it took him 10 to 12 hours to finish a 50+ dollar game that's trouble. Don't under estimate the power of Usenet and the Internet, there are over 50 million plus people who read Usenet. If they read terms that we're mentioned above in a game their child wants,or anybody who has any interest in the game,you can bet it's big factor in either renting or buying the game. I suggest you spend time in Usenet, when everybody was raving about Pax 2, i pointed out how there were no posts for the game, and the ones that we're posted we're bad. Good Job Andy, you are doing the best DD you can. Everybody on the EDISY board raved about Death Trap Dungeon, i posted my findings on their board. Look where DD and EDISY are now. Alex

Jeff and Alex, Jeff: usenet is a totally uncontrol area but it is a nice place to gather public opinion for a new product. Just keep in mind that you also have to read about products in the same class to obtain the relative result. For that purpose, I picked "Zelda 64" and "Final Fantasy". I myself has read the preview of Quest 64 and Zelda 64, I think "average to good" is very appropriate for Quest 64 if Zelda 64 is very good. Keep in mind that "average to good" is the same rating given to WCW vs NWO. I am (we are) happy as long as Quest 64 is selling well, I don't care if it is the best or not, especially most people is comparing Quest to Zelda. The most important part in my post is that Quest has generated lots of traffic in the usenet. This is an required element of a hit titles. Alex: I retrieved all posts in the usenet (not only one newsgroup) which contains the word "Quest 64", this is why some of them are non-english posts as I mentioned. I can read Chinese thoug (Big5 & GB code). Quest 64 are mentioned in Taiwan and H.K. newsgroup too but not in last two days. THQI is always part of the industry, it was a successful one and will be one of the top in next 2 years as long as it didn't get take-over at this bargain price. aC
