Batman:

I appreciate your point of view. There are obviously differences in any two products or companies. That is what makes benchmarking so challenging (and not always successful).

I can only make judgements based on what I know and this knowledge is constantly being improved with time. Right now, I know very little about OE. I have read a few articles over the years, including the one I posted.

I do disagree with you in regards to the degree of readiness of the AENG technology. This engine's readiness would be classified somewhere around Technology Readiness Level 3 or 4. This is the prototype stage. OE's engine is at Level 7. It takes 3 to 7 years for the gap to be bridged with most electro-mechanical systems technology such as engines. These TRL numbers are commonly used in the NASA community to gauge the level of funding needed to bring NASA technology to market.

To give you an example, I have spent about $250,000 (NASA money)developing a new electric motor technology. This has brought it from Level 2 to level 4 over two years. An industry/NASA R&D consortium is going to have to spend close to $5,000,000 to bring it to market. And I have many working prototypes.

AENG has a working prototype. But this does not mean it is anywhere near close to being put into production, even if its performance could be validated by independent testing.

Sword,

Got an Email today that says they will be able to check out the name based on the info you stated here. Guess NASA people are on this board. That is if your are telling the truth, which I assume you are. Anyway as soon as I get the name I will post it for all to see. I think you are to modest not to take personal credit for your accomplishments. So I decided to help you out and give credit where credit is deserved.

Maybe I'll do the post in the form of some award. That is if all posted regrading NASA is the truth, but of course it is.

Okay NASA guys go get the name, we definitely need an awards presentation here.
