Thanks for the post. I do understand why the U.S. market and treasuries are attractive to Asians compared to domestic investments. There has been quite a bit of talk among the locals here in K.L. when the Malaysian Gov't announced a program that would allow citizens to repatriate money with no questioons asked about its source. This was to dispel the fear of tax audits and open the way for the expected repatriation. Of course, it fizzled, (if it ever started).

No.. I was asking the more general question about the apparent pig-headedness of the Japanese by not being more aggresive in policies aimed at spurring their economy. I can at least fathom why they continue to cover up the seriousness of the bank situtations rather then "face the music" but I do not understand the "Japanese" argument for not having executed a much more agressive tax break.
