Ibexx,

I have also wondered how the "head honchoes" in a given company have justified the computer messages as "customer service".

Does it save time? Not for me. Why should I have to listen to a dozen choices to get to the one I need? And then, sometimes I never get to the one I need, get disconnected, and have to call again.

Do the computer message systems save the company money? Maybe. But in terms of customer satisfaction, they fail miserably.

I use t as my ISP, and for my long distance service. I recently received notice that they were going to increase the fee for Internet Access. IE, if you are on line for more than 150 hours per month, you would have to pay a 99 cents per hour premium.

Now, I believe in a pay as you use rule, but I have five users in my home and three are teenagers. There are still other ISP's that charge less, for unlimited service. So I sent t an E-mail message that indicated that if I received a single bill for more than the current rate, $19.95 per month, I would not only change my ISP, but would also change my long distance service. I am not a huge LD user, but I have been with t since the divestiture, and obviously before.

What response did I get?

A computer generated response that in effect said, "A computer received your response and is unconcerned with your message".

I will attempt to converse with a real person tomorrow and voice my concerns. If I am unsuccessful, I will no longer be an AT&T customer, nor a stockholder.

Phil
