Hi gary richard skora; Regarding those MMs...

I followed some of the action on my Nasdaq
workstation.

DEAN and EVRN looked to me to be short selling
quite heavily. They were more or less alone the first
day, but other sellers came in later. But those two
MMs were definitely shorting piles of shares as late
as Thursday and most of Friday.

Whenever somebody put an uptick bid in, it was
immediately hit with large size prints. But downtick
bids were largely left alone. For that reason, I
suspect short selling.

Those two firms were pretty much the only ones at
the inside ask who stayed when large numbers of
retail (i.e. small lot) market buy orders came in. On
the other hand, most of the sell orders were in 1000
share or even larger lots. Therefore, the institutions
were selling, while the small guys were buying this stock.

If these MMs thought that the price was going to run
up due to the Discover article, they would be quite
insane to drive the price down by shorting it in
advance, quite insane.

Not a chance. DEAN and EVRN either are representing
clients who believe the stock is going down, or are
hedging some sort of convertible debt offering. Has
there been any private placement announcement of
a debt offering? I didn't see any in a quick look.
