Hi Don and Stephan,

I have been following this thread for a while,
and find your insights on Japan very interesting.

I am very interested in the evolution of the current
situation. In particular right now I am trying to find
appropriate ways to invest* as I feel there are
a number of very interesting opportunities developing.
I would very much appreciate if you care to comment on
some investment ideas and references.

(*I started with the auto industry where current weakness
of the Yen makes Japanese companies more competitive while
at the same time their shares are going down in $)

Thanks in advance

Regards

Victor

PS I must confess that I also participate in the World Cup
thread and will be rooting for Argentina in its match against
Japan. Sorry.

So how is it your in Japan...teaching English????

I moved to Seattle area 1/12 years ago after 15 years in Japan. I chose this area because of a lot of Asian influences here, and still relatively short flight back to Japan. I have a Sat dish and can get a live feed of N.H.K., so as I said it serves as a barometer of the real panic??? level in Japan. I have argued with many others who are predicting the end of Japan and total doom, but all they show me is they know little of Japan.. The Japanese have had a long slow recession versus a sharp and noticable one that have had helped them recover soon, so this slow period really means little to them.. They are too use to it.. But I really have no doubt that they and others will be back and MUCH stronger next time, and Asians have long memories and will not forget who was around to assist and who just wanted to criticize.
