What brings you here Mr. Metals? This did. Former Petroleum Industry Chief Exec Joins Coconino S.M.A. SALT LAKE CITY, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move seen as emblematic of his company's continuing progress towards fulfillment of shareholder expectations, Coconino S.M.A., Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CSMA) President Hamlin K. Elrod today announced that one of his long time acquaintances and a true industry insider would become an advisor to his company's Board of Directors. D. O. "Swede" Nelson, a former president of Chevron Overseas Petroleum, Inc. with over forty years' experience in the petroleum and environmental industries, has agreed to provide Coconino SMA with the benefits of his management and organizational expertise. Plans currently call for Nelson to become a full member of Coconino's board as soon as the merger with Buffalo Capital announced a month ago is completed. Commenting at a recent meeting of Coconino's Board of Directors, Nelson said, "Coconino is involved in several very exciting ventures in industries with which I am very familiar. I look forward to very active participation with its management in helping them to achieve their goals." Nelson began his professional career with the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in 1951 after graduating from the Colorado School of Mines as a Petroleum Engineer. He joined Chevron Corporation in 1962. After holding several top executive positions in Columbia and Venezuela, he was made President of Chevron Overseas Petroleum in 1968 and held that prestigious position for the next 12 years. During his tenure as president, Chevron developed one of the North Sea's major oil fields establishing several milestones in construction, operations, and maintenance that continue today. Since retiring from Chevron in 1980, Nelson has continued his involvement with industry matters. He has been a management consultant for several major takeovers and reorganizations in the petroleum industry, often serving as a board member and chief executive officer of the acquired companies. Most recently he managed a very successful oil field rehabilitation program in western Siberia for a Swiss company. Coconino's President Elrod stated, "I've known Swede Nelson for seven years or more, and I'm truly pleased that he has the time and the inclination to help our company realize its near and long term potential. For a young company such as ours to have a man of his experience close at hand is a tremendous stroke of good fortune. Our entire management team will have the luxury of drawing upon his proven leadership and organizational capabilities as well as his extensive petroleum and environmental industry expertise. Coconino shareholders will be well served by having Swede on their team."
