Argentina 1 x 0 Japan Final

Close call.... The Japanese never gave up and in the 89th. minute almost tied the game. Had they had a star striker the history may have been different, incredible goalie # 20, saved two or three that could have been in the net.

Argentineans attacked well, I particularly liked # 10 Ortega, a solid forward with the capabilities not only to score but to create opportunities for others; Batutista IMO could have done a bit better.

Argentina could have scored more, but somehow the Japanese goalie had a lot to do with that.

The Bulgarian-looking # 11 Veron, a little too wild in his shots, but I guess his real work is in the mid-field.

Argentina, if they want to win the Cup will have to improve in their game, perhaps the first game effect had something to do with it.

Hollywood scouts could do very well in their search for extras, and even lead actors, particularly in violent death scenes, amongst the soccer players, (particularly the Argentineans), no wonder Tango comes from Argentina. Great performances, worth of many Oscar nominations.

Regardless, a victory is a victory.

Overall a very entertaining game, and to me the Japanese turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I am seeing that the "newer" teams to the Cup seem far better what in the past the same category of teams used to be absolutely horrific.

This cup is turning out to be the most competitive in history, I am glad to see the Brazilian-Dutch, and Brazilian-Japanese players, it shows the true International character of the sport.

And let's not discount the Argentineans just yet, they can turn on their magic at any moment.

Remember that in the eyes of an Argentinean, (while never admitting to it), they are Italians who speak Spanish, think they are French, while secretly dreaming they are actually English.....

It is one of those cases of multiple-personalities.... No flames now, just kidding....

Z.

On with the fest

Japanese came on strong at the end. Good thing the Argentine defense didn't let down their guard psycologically when Sensini was taken out. They held together well as a team. Definitely a superior squad to 94. A little disappointed with Ortega, although, he was continually double if not triple teamed. Here's looking at their next match!!
