"TH-Q (THQI:Nasdaq) had another good day, growing 1 3/16 to 27 1/16, after yesterday's news of 10-year exclusive agreement with privately held Titan Sports to produce World Wrestling Federation electronic games."

Good to see THQ mentioned again on Friday in TheStreet.com's Market Roundup.

I agree with Wade on the insignificance of Usenet on console games. Maybe it influences buyers of PC games, but I highly doubt the importance of a bunch of toolish posts ragging on PSX or N64 games having an affect on people who go to Best Buy, etc to buy games. People are more apt to be influenced by word of mouth or reviews in prominent video game magazines. The average gamer is not going to waste time searching through lame Usenet groups. As far as 50 million people reading PSX or N64 game focused groups...get real. It's probably less than 10,000 per week at most.

Alex, sorry for the potshot on your ATVI holdings. But your potshots over here seem less based on analysis than your own feelings that the good guys in video games are not making any cash, while dumb ol' THQ is.

No way are there 50,000,000 Usenet users. Figure is ridiculous.

<<There's 57,000 gropus and growing daily, >>

A lot of them are jokes or contain no posts (at least on my server).

<<If you spent some time on the newsgroups >>

I spend too much time on them. You can check out my Usenet posts on Deja if you like. I use them every day. But most computer users don't--even a lot of my friends here in Berkeley who are working in cutting-edge software development.

<< 'd be worried to if the
company i owned is spending 2 million bucks to market a
bad game. >>

I'm a little worried about Quest sales, but a little worry is healthy in owning a stock. On the 2 million: I believe Nintendo is footing half of it. That's what we get with THQ: Farrell. That's why THQ makes money. Farrell had the boring idea of running THQ as a business.

Alex: THQ could earn 3 bucks/share this year. We're sitting on a PE of 9 on that estimate. Don't fight the Force, Alex.

Wade
