Microtech International Inc. Launches Ad Campaign In Mobile
Computing &
Communications and Portable Computing

(PR Newswire; 06/10/98)

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ The world is now aware
that SIZE
DOES MATTER when it comes to a giant lizard that destroys New York
City. On
June 16, 1998 the same phrase will apply to computer peripherals.
Beginning
with the July issue of Mobile Computing & Communications distributed at
PC Expo
and the August issue of Portable Computing, Microtech International,
Inc. will
be launching a series of full-page color ads for their Mii Zip(TM) 100
Drive
that will not only grab the attention of its readers, but literally
hold it in
the palms of their hands.

Claiming that SIZE DOES MATTER, Microtech is capitalizing on the
currency
of this phrase and proves that the tiny dimensions of their portable
**Zip
Drive** are what will make people agree that in this case smaller is
better.
With overall dimensions of 5.8 x 4 x 0.6 inches and weighing only 11
ounces,
the Mii Zip 100 Drive is the World's Smallest and Fastest **Zip
Drive** on the
market. Using a PC card interface, the Mii Zip 100 Drive powers itself
directly from the notebook without draining the battery and no AC
adapter is
required making the unit completely portable. Additionally, the Mii
Zip 100
is the only product of its kind to be approved by **Iomega**(R), the
leader of
the Zip technology market.

Mobile Computing & Communications and Portable Computing are the
only
publications to focus exclusively on all aspects of mobile technology
making it
the ideal location for the promotion of Microtech's product. Mobile
Computing
& Communications currently reaches a worldwide audience with a
circulation of
over 200,000 corporate volume buyers. Portable Computing reaches the
other
half of the mobile market home users and small business entrepreneurs
with
a distribution of 165,000.

Watch for the evolution of the ads as they run through September in
both
publications. Also be on the lookout for Microtech at PC Expo in New
York City
inside of **Iomega**'s booth .4534. Representatives from Microtech
will be
available to answer any questions or visit the website at
www.microtech-pc.com
for a chance to win a FREE Mii Zip 100 Drive.

16 pack zip disks for $125 at Costco starting from 15th for a week. It is actually $150-$25 if you give the coupon. It is nice to see Iomega coming in the coupon book of Costco. It shows that the company's channel focusing is working. Also, this knocks the price of a Zip Disk to be under $8. I wonder who will buy Nomai if people can get such deals frequently!!

Also, Fujuisu laptop with Zip models are now $1499 and $1699 at Fry's Sunnyvale. I was seeing them for $1799 and $1999 when they were introduced. The current prices are really attractive esp when they come with Zip drives and 56K modems. I still think getting into as many OEM boxes as possible should be the goal of IOM. In fact, they don't have to cut the retail prices much but should give more deals for OEMs to package them. It is a psychology game. When people see lot of models with Zip Buit in, they will feel that it is a must and will hesitate to buy the ones with out Zip Built In. Rest of the people who already have PCs won't mind paying $119 instead of $99 for an external Zip.

Oh. well. Hope we hear some good news at PC Expo.
