Janice, I have an idea for a PR Coup: [See:< korea-np.co.jp > Click on "N-S Relations", then on "DPRK Blames Seoul for Stalled Inter-Korean Talks (4/22/98)"] In the interest of better relations with Other Countries, may I propose a Concerned Humanitarian Effort by FBN Associates to Render Assistance to the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland. It appears that the "south side" has snubbed its nose at the "north side", and is threatening to refuse fertilizer shipments to the "north side" based on non fertilizer, (and therefore obviously bogus) arguments. My idea is simple. Load the corporate B-52s with Good Old American Fertilizer and fly it over to the "north side". Landings would be unnecessary, pilots could simply dump the fertilizer at Key Points on the "north side" and be back for late dinner and cigars. Consider the Public Relations angle here before you scoff at the idea. The USA has plenty of extra fertilizer, more than we would ever need. Fertilizer rots, just like any other commodity, and the excess would be useless to anyone if not put to a good use. I plan on contacting Officials in Washington who control almost all of the fertilizer in the USA, and I see no reason why they would refuse such a humanitarian effort on the part of the Private Sector. I have already contacted my sources on the "north side", and they say they are willing to pay an "agreed upon amount" for a block of FBN shares to cover fuel and maintenance on the aircraft. I didn't mention the "not landing" part, I thought that might be saved for a surprise... I also have a close friend who is a retired pilot, (served in the early 50s) and he says he knows several friends that would volunteer to drop all the fertilizer on the planet on the "north side" in exchange for a case of fermented malt beverage. The impact for the company would be huge, IMHO. I see no negatives at all, and several positives, not the least of which would be a favorable image for all those concerned. What do you think?
