I have to admit very little knowledge in this area.

My colleague was working with a money manager type out of California who managed money for big institutions.

I don't know how well the technology transferred if at all. I didn't see them have much success but they were in the developmental stages at that time. They didn't seem to have done the back-testing to validate the results plus the data needed for such things as boundary conditions in Fluids Problems didn't seem to be available from historical data since you may need derivatives to establish BCs and they really needed to be constructed realtime and going forward.

It seemed like some of the California Universities were leading the way UCLA and some others. I haven't followed the research to know how it has evolved. Thus my questions.

Were these East coast university types presenting?
Was there theory validation data presented?
