WOW, I was bullish on DELL but from the points in your post you just sold me on MUEI!

Have a product, wins awards, has new ex-DELL COO, has a history of good product and head start but had inept past management and has J R Simplot to put up LOTS of money. Now where can they get those people you refered to.... Hummmmm, I wonder if MU will be laying off, Nah, the DRAM business has never been better. <VBG>

Partially tongue in check, but never say there isn't competition lurking in the wings. DELL is approaching where CPQ was when DELL had them in their sites. AKA "never say never"

3, Thanks for your excellent post. L3 makes a useful point in reminding us we shouldn't underestimate the potential for new competitors. Nonetheless, you make an effective case that the obstacles to entry are far more formidable than is generally thought. We can certainly expect new firms to enter the business to emulate Dell's methods. It's clear from your post they have their work cut out.

Geoff

Good afternoon Bachman,
Still chuckling over Have you ever considered TV evangelism as a career? A modern incarnation of Mr. Pecksniff perhaps?

Thanks for the detailed discussion of just a few of the barriers to entry that exist. BTW, is Techie really a banker? I thought bankers understood economics.

TTFN,
