A classic strategic problem for Alpha - You can only get it from DEC-Compaq

I wouldn't go that far. There are a lot of VARs starting to add alphas as high-end machines. If CPQ really pushes teh Alpha (and Samsung) then it could see more partners. You could say the same thing about Sparcs, but Sun has made money off of those systems.

The only way for Alpha to prosper is for Intel to drop the Merced ball.

Stranger things have happened. Just remember Merced isn't only INtel's work. HP is involved too, and HP is good at dropping everything (including the ball, stock price, market share, etc).
