Steve - Re: "Now I have a question for your Paul. How many years did it take Intel to reliably make money every quarter? "

Intel was founded in August, 1968 and went public in 1971.

I can't find 1971 financial data, but my "guess" is that Intel was profitable for the whole year.

I do have financial data from 1972 onwards.

Intel posted quarterly profits from Jan. 1972 through Q2, 1985 - making 54 straight profitable quarters.

Intel posted a loss for Q2 and Q3 of 1985 - but "eked" out a small yearly profit for all of 1985.

Intel posted a LOSS for all of 1986 - posting losses in all 4 quarters of 1986.

Intel has been profitable every quarter since - starting in Q1 of 1987.

The answer to your question is - it took Intel no more than 3 or 3 1/4 years to become profitable on a quarterly basis.
