Steve, It sounds to me like you already understand what I do as far as establishing a position in CMGI. All your assumptions are correct. The strategy only works if the stock trades in a relatively narrow range. Of course, "narrow range" for CMGI is between $37 and $53. So to put it in simple terms (and what I do is quite simple), I purchase the stock when it looks like its down to far... for no real good reason other than the momentum boys are out or short. For instance, last week it went down to the middle $30's. I think around $34 for the low. I was at work that day and missed the chance to make a buy. The next day it opened up and kept going up from there. If I had been able to make the trade, I would have grabbed a block of stock at a lower price than the other two blocks that I presently have. I missed it. Damn. Because, if I had made the buy, I would now be waiting to sell a block at say $48. I would make a bunch of money and have a lower average share price for "long term" hold. DWW II
